Paint Discussion N4356R

Below is a discussion of what is being considered for paint on N4356R.  We will use AeroGraphics for a rendering.  Scott can guide them with the comments and pictures below.  I feel like they represent the conversations we have had pretty well.

We know we are going to use Matterhorn White as the base color.  The main stripes are Black and Gray.  N4477R uses the following colors:

White:  Jet Glo Matterhorn White 570-535

Black:  Dupont Nason Black #991B

Gray:  Dupont Nason Gray #CG3531B(Custom Mix)

Red:  Dupont Nason Red #N5539

These colors and names are only being used for reference/comments.  Scott will specify standard/factory numbers.

N4477R also has a red accent line that is difficult/impossible to see it this picture.  Scott knows the airplane, maybe he has an opinion as to whether we want to add this 3rd stripe color.  Steve Wojdylak's airplane, N93779 looks great and 3 colors were used.

Some 185's have Skywagon 185 on them.  Later years it seems to have changed to 185 Skywagon.  Maybe we should use "Beegles 185" on this one.

At some point we need to decide what colors to use on the propeller, and how do we do the spinner?  I am thinking I may lean toward Matterhorn White on the spinner.

N4477R Is a 1976 185 owned by George Dyer.  It may be original paint and the paint scheme is period correct.  It seems to be a well executed 1976 paint scheme.  Pretty simple.  Great colors.

This is Steve Wojdylak's 1977 185.  I'm not sure if this paint scheme can be improved on.  I like how the stripes appear to point straight at the spinner and not below it.  When you look at the horizontal stabilizer it also appears "in line" with the striping.  I'm guessing in level flight these stripes would be level.  The vertical portion of the stripes(just aft the windows) appear to be parallel to the angle on the N-number.  It also has a crisp stripe that outlines the shape of the vertical fin that I do not recall seeing on another airplane.  But my experience base is not very big.

Here is another view of the same airplane sitting on floats.

The stripes on this airplane taper towards the spinner.  It is just here to look at.  I don't know that it adds anything to the conversation.  It does have some extra color on the top of the rudder.  Steve's airplane differs in that it has striping on the vertical fin.  But it raises the question of whether or not the vertical fin needs a little more color.  You tend to see it that way but I don't know if it is needed.
